Learn, laugh, live
For our last ride of the 2023-24 year, some of the Monday Cycling Group decided to use the Bank Holiday to check out the well known Elstead Loop. This ride, some 13.5 miles, is largely off road. Starting by the quaint, old, St James’s Church in Elstead, it goes across the commons to Tilford, then through the woods, etc, almost to Shackleford, then works it’s way down to Eashing and then back to Elstead.
According to the outdoor planning App, ‘Komoot’, this loop is graded as ‘Expert’ and the three of us certainly struggled in places, particularly on the narrow, winding and uphill section behind Charles Hill on the Elstead-Farnham Rd! We decided that should we do it again we will reverse the route so as to take the tougher slopes downhill rather than up!
All in all an enjoyable afternoon’s outing, finished off with a glass of something cold, sitting in the sun in Elstead Mill’s riverside garden.
