Ambling – January 2020 – Britty Wood

Ten of us set off on a frosty, slightly overcast morning.  We met at Puttenham Common Lower Car Park, next to the Tarn.  We set off across the road and soon warmed up. The walk took us through Lower Puttenham Common and into Britty Wood. This is a lovely area and the paths are generally dry even after a lot of rain. There were lots of things to see along the way and we came to a log with some large, partly frosted, Black Bulgar or Bachelor’s Buttons (Bulgaria inquinans) on a log.
